As a group, we are operating internationally, leading the way in ‘Ex’ technology. With our range of products covering explosion protected switches, pushbuttons and light fittings through to controls to complex systems, we are the only manufacturer able to offer the entire range of different explosion protection methods (types of protection). There are subsidiaries in 20+ countries that can ensure full coverage sales services and international project handling. The head office for R. STAHL is based in Waldenburg, Germany, although as a subsidiary, we operate within the UK alone.

The product range within R. STAHL is vast and continually being reviewed and expanded as necessary. The four product areas that we cover are: Switchgear, Automation, Lighting and System Solutions. We have an excellent onsite assembly and test facility centrally based in Birmingham, UK, where we can build and customise products.
Our key accounts are within the oil and gas industry, in addition to the chemical and pharmaceuticals industries. However, we also serve customers in the food industry, the shipbuilding sector and the bio-fuel industry who also need to use explosion protected products. Likewise, R. STAHL products can be found in sewage treatment plants, water conditioning plants and distilleries.
Besides the outlined customer industries, there are new industries on which R. STAHL is increasingly focussing. For instance, the latest Dust Explosion Protection Directives require food manufacturers and mill operators to pay attention to the safety of their installations.
The company also wishes to forge ahead into systems business and build up expertise. Since operators and plant constructors are outsourcing more and more tasks to suppliers, R. STAHL sees this as an important opportunity to offer its services as a partner for system solutions.
